Shakib Al Hasan: Hello, a warm welcome from the deck of CricBails, Bangladesh Skipper Shakib Al Hasan is set to miss UAE tour due to his commitment with Guyana Amazon Warriors in Caribbean Premier League.
The BCB took the initiative to hold the series after the national team’s recent three-day camp at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium from September 12-14 was canceled due to the country’s incessant rain.
“Shakib is unavailable in UAE,” BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus confirmed.
Nurul Hasan Sohan, who recently led the Bangladesh side in Zimbabwe before returning home due to injury is likely to lead Bangladesh in UAE as well.
”The fitness test will be given in two groups with the first group scheduled at 8:30 AM and the second group at 9:30 AM. This Yo-Yo test is to see where they stand fitness-wise before going to UAE,” said Minhajul.
Bangladesh is scheduled to depart for Dubai at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday (September 22), with two T20Is against the host scheduled for September 25 and 27.
The team is expected to return on September 28 before departing for New Zealand to compete in a tri-nation series against Pakistan, which is set to begin on October 7.
Shakib, who has the NOC until October 4, will join the team in New Zealand prior to the series start.
