New Zealand T20 WC 2022 Squad: New Zealand Cricket Council has announced the Blackcaps T20 World Cup 2022 where Michael Bracewell and Finn Allen got their maiden world cup call-ups. New Zealand announced 15 players squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
Where they announced only two faces in the form of Michael Bracewell and Finn Allen to the side that has reached the final of the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Adam Milne, who replaced injured Lockie Ferguson in the T20 world cup 2021, has found a place in New Zealand T20 World Cup Squad 2022 as well and wicketkeeper batter Devon Conway was mentioned as the frontline wicketkeeper in the squad.
While all-rounder Kyle Jamieson did not make the cut due to his ongoing rehabilitation from a back injury, Todd Astle and Tim Seifert also missed out from the squad.
“It’s always a special time announcing a World Cup squad and I’d like to congratulate the 15 players selected today,” said Gary Stead, the New Zealand head coach.
“It’s especially exciting for Finn and Michael who are set for their first ICC events, while Martin Guptill is preparing for his 7th T20 World Cup – which in itself is an incredible achievement.
“It’s great to have this tournament so soon after last year’s event in which we played some really good cricket, but couldn’t quite get over the line at the end.”
“With the nucleus of that squad retained along with the exciting additions of Finn and Michael, we should go into the tournament with plenty of optimism.”
