IPL 2023: Hello and a Warm Welcome from the deck of CricBails, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have received a significant boost ahead of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the confirmation of Ben Stokes’s participation.

The England Test captain had been nursing a knee injury throughout the recent two-match Test series against New Zealand, which ended in a 1-1 tie.

Ben Stokes stated in a post-match press conference following the Wellington Test that he has discussed his workload with Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming.

“I am going to the IPL. I have had conversations with ‘Flem’ [Fleming] and he’s fully aware of the situation with my body. It’s a week-by-week case at the moment.”

Stokes also admitted that his knee injury has slowed him down, but he is determined to recover in time for the Ashes, which will begin soon after the finale of the IPL 2023.

“I’ve got a four-month period now to get it better before the Ashes because I want to be turning up for the first Test in Birmingham able to fulfil my role properly.”

Ben Stokes has had a successful tenure as England’s Test captain, winning 10 of 12 matches since taking over for Joe Root last year. Only South Africa and New Zealand have defeated England once during this time period.
