Mohammad Shami and Deepak Hooda are likely to miss the T20I series against South Africa due to their injuries. Mohammad Shami, who missed the T20I series against Australia after getting positive for COVID has not recovered fully.

Deepak Hooda is recovering from his back injury so he is also not likely to fit for the T20I series against South Africa. He Missed Third T20I against Australia as well due to his back injury.

Mohammad Shami has not traveled with the Team to Trivandrum for First T20I against South Africa. Umesh Yadav, who replaced him in the T20I squad against Australia traveled with Team so he is likely to replace Shami in India’s T20I squad against South Africa.

Deepak Hooda injured his back during a practice session, and BCCI (Board of Control Cricket in India ) has said that he was not available for selection Third T20 against Australia. BCCI stated, “Deepak Hooda wasn’t available for selection for this game owing to a back injury.”

Deepak Hooda also did not travel to Trivandrum with the Indian Team as he needs the attention of a Medical team at NCA (National Cricket Academy). Shreyas Iyer, who was named standby for this series is likely to replace him in the India T20 Squad against SA.
