Harmanpreet Kaur has been selected as India’s ODI skipper for their forthcoming tour to Sri Lanka, just hours after Mithali Raj announced her retirement from international cricket. The BCCI announced that India will play three T20Is in Dambulla and three ODIs in Kandy during their tour.
Jhulan Goswami, who is 39 and has not yet confirmed her retirement from ODIs, is not in the squad with Sneh Rana. Harleen Deol, a middle-order hitter who has only played one ODI, has been called up instead.
Opening hitter S Meghana recently scored 73 for the Trailblazers in the Women’s T20 Challenge, earning her a spot. Simran Bahadur, a bowling all-rounder who made her ODI debut against New Zealand earlier this year but failed not make the World Cup roster, has been called up.
Jemimah Rodrigues returns to the T20I squad, again led by Harmanpreet, despite continuing to miss out on the ODI squad. Radha Yadav, a left-arm orthodox bowler, also makes a comeback after her last and only ODI in March 2021. Ekta Bisht has no place in the squad.
