Asia Cup 2022: The Asia Cup 2022 will be the 15th edition of the Asia Cup cricket tournament played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in the United Arab Emirates from 27th August to 11th September 2022.
The tournament, which was originally scheduled to take place in September 2020, was postponed to July 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was then rescheduled for June 2021 in Sri Lanka, and it was postponed again. After retaining the rights to host the 2022 edition, Pakistan was set to host the tournament.
However, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced in October 2021 that Sri Lanka would host the tournament in 2022, with Pakistan hosting the 2023 edition. India is the current defending champion.
The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) informed the ACC on July 21, 2022, that they would be unable to host the tournament due to the country’s economic and political crisis. The ACC confirmed on July 27, 2022, that the tournament would be held in the United Arab Emirates, with Sri Lanka Cricket serving as hosts. The tournament schedule was released on August 2, 2022.
